Practical guide
Campaign memory and fact correction
How long-term memory stores confirmed events, provenance, and corrections without rewriting history.
Short answer
Campaign memory separates confirmed facts from narrative retelling. Every durable fact has a source, relevant entities, and in-world chronology; a correction supersedes the earlier record instead of erasing it.
What to do
- Open Campaign Memory and filter by entity or fact type.
- Follow the source reference to the originating turn or event.
- If the fact is wrong, submit and confirm a correction.
Practical scenario
The chronicle says Mara owns a key, but later evidence proves it was planted. A correction links to the new event and marks the earlier interpretation as superseded.
Limitations
- An unverified character statement does not automatically become fact.
- A correction must not damage inventory, quests, or other authoritative projections.
Common question
Why keep an incorrect older record?
It explains what players and characters believed at the time and preserves an auditable history of changing knowledge.
