Living world map: states, routes, and events

Learn how the AI RPG map represents known and rumored places, routes, threats, and turn-by-turn changes.

· Beyond The Verge Editorial

Short answer

The map shows confirmed knowledge or information explicitly marked as rumor. Current, known, visited, threatened, and blocked places have distinct cues, while changes are linked to server-confirmed events.

What to do

  1. Open a node to inspect its player-visible state and actions.
  2. Check whether a route is known, open, and able to reach the destination.
  3. After a turn, review highlighted changes before choosing the next scene.

Practical scenario

A player hears a rumor about an abandoned observatory. It appears as unconfirmed; investigation can make it known, and only actual arrival marks it visited.

Limitations

  • The map does not expose hidden regions or secret information.
  • Visual effects do not invent geography; they replay confirmed state.

Common question

Can I travel by clicking any location?

Only when the route and action are available in current state. An unknown or blocked path cannot be bypassed with a click.
