Background world enrichment
How bounded background work adds lore, rumors, routes, and quest opportunities between turns.
Short answer
Background enrichment does not rewrite a campaign on its own. A bounded leased job may add one validated lore item, rumor/route, or available quest opportunity with provenance; accepting a quest remains a normal player turn.
What to do
- A background job selects one eligible enrichment kind.
- The server validates references, limits, duplicates, and visibility.
- The transaction commits all related state or nothing.
Practical scenario
After a conflict, a rumor appears about a hidden pass. The map marks it as rumor and a quest offers investigation; neither route nor reward is treated as already acquired.
Limitations
- Background work must not delay the normal player response.
- Retry or restart must not duplicate an event, location, route, or quest.
Common question
Can background work accept a quest for me?
No. It creates an available opportunity; acceptance requires an explicit player action.
